The Formal Requirements Engineering of Manufacturing Systems

Requirements Engineering is now widely recognised as a critical activity in the context of information system (IS) development. In this paper, we present a taxonomy of different kinds of knowledge elicited during requirements engineering. In particular, we introduce a formal agent-oriented language aimed at the modelling of functional requirements. Finally, we suggest a methodology for the requirements specification of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) systems, based on the distinction between the different kinds of knowledge and the reuse of agent-oriented frameworks.

All the models are compared using AHP, where a number of parameters of interest are employed.
